Thanks to everybody for coming and making it a successful event! It was great to see old friends, make new friends, and see people having a good time.
What did everyone pick up at the Con? I set a personal best by NOT spending much money at all; only $45.00 total.
I bought Lewis Trondheim's "A.L.I.E.E.E.N." published by First Second. It's a wordless comic that reminds me of Jim Woodring's "Frank".
I also got a book of 30 postcards by Jordan Crane, author of "The Clouds Above", a great little kid's comic book in children's book format that I highly recommend.
And I got 3 books of vintage (1932)Oz comic stories by Walt Sprouse from Eric Shanower's booth.
On Sunday I obtained two of Tony DeZuniga's art prints for my nephews in Scotland ... a bodacious barbarian and a well appointed pirate! And clad in such a way that two teen aged boys will get a lot out of them without sounding parental alarms!! ... I'll scan and post tomorrow.
10. Fall Of Cuthulu , The Fugue. Another Boom Studios product. I wanted to check some of their product. Theirs was the only panel I manaegd to get into.
11.Kid Beowulf and the Blood Bound Oath. Alexis E Fajardo. This guy was pretty cool. Gave me the tip on getting rid of blue pencil construction drawing. Works for "Peanuts" at the Charles M Schultz studio
All We Ever Do is Talk About Wood by Tom Horacek (very funny collection of single panel cartoons)
The Professor's Daughter by Joann Sfar
Magic Trixie by Jill Thompson
2 Tresury of Murder books by Rick Geary
Modern Masters-Mark Schultz
Afterworks- collection of comics by Pixar guys
...and best of all, Derek Monster, a sketch book of monsters by Derek Thompson (also a Pixar guy), who drew a monster on the inside cover that ROCKS!
Oh, and the Gozilla T-shirt that Tommy was sporting at the party.
BTW, it occurs to me that we sometimes need to send out Emails to TAG members to get the word out on certain things (rather than hoping that everyone reads the blog regularly). Therefore, I would like to create an email mailing list to share with all TAG members. So, if you want to be included on this, please send me your address (don't post it here as it will attract spam like anything). My email address is posted on my website, so I'm not shy with my address... rick@rickschmitz.com. Once I have a critical mass of email addresses, I will send out a message so it will be available to all members. Sound good?
A great idea Rick. I'll be sending you both my work and home e-mail. Now, if we can just figure out how to get ahold of all those people who fail to read that last post of yours!!!
The hat looks like Brent Anderson. Maybe the shades as well.
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC PARTY!!!!!!
Great to talk with all those old friends.
I think you called it Tom. That's a Skrbbl skimmer
ReplyDeleteNope, that's Dok's hat. I don't know about the shades.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Tom for the great time and opening your house to all of us! I think everyone had a wonderful time!
I, too, had a marvelous time. And time flew! Before I knew it it was past the witching hour, but really, I could have stayed longer!! Thanks, Tom!!

ReplyDeleteFor those of you who took pictures at the Con a suggestion, why don't you post them on your Facebook account or something... :)
