"Juiced" Caricature ...

  1. We have a caricature session during lunch at Heavy Iron. Usually just round robin victims. You guys have seen the result of my being targeted. I'd want to take what you got here Tom and scale the head and make it half again wider. I think you've made pretty good notes about features but the core shape of OJs head is more like a block of cement. Maybe with even a little flare of the jaw muscle sending it wider than taller. I really dig the whole composited rich texture the flesh tones emerge out of. Very good editorial type illo.

  2. I concur ... I need sessions like you're getting ... When Mark DeCerbo wrote the song that goes with this piece on Twonks and Plonkers, it necessitated a caricature of some sort, but I wasn't able to distort the features more without making look like a freak ... and I did the piece in about four hours from soup to nuts (11pm to 3am ...). In the end, I'm pretty happy with it. Check out the comic posting though ... I had a contest in the morning while I was waiting to get the Flash .swf file ready and no one could guess the silhouette of the character. A good caricature often translates into a recognizable silhouette (witness Bob Hope's nose, etc.). I'll keep trying (and the modestness of the caricature necessitated putting more into the background, etc. Thanks for the input.

BTW: I was looking for the Image Ready button in my Photoshop CS and I absolutely cannot find it. I looked in Help, too, but no real help. Can you guide me to where it would be ... I know what the icon looks like, but can't find it in my tool bar ...

  3. Tom, the bottommost right hand button on the certical tools menu should be imageready. But if you ahve CS, just go up top to WINDOW, go down about two options and click on ANIMATION.

Build yourself a subtley shifting PSD using layers.

Using that new Animation window, click on the top right corner and in that menu find something like TURN FRAMES INTO ANIMATION

then instead of just a regfular save, use the option SAVE FOR THE WEB. use the two window option like debabelizer or whatever. Pick GIF. Send it where you want it and when published on the web it should animate.
