Early Tuesday Drawing

I don't know why, but the thought of a magical flashlight fascinates me.

Yet Another Cover Of The Comic Book I Will SOMEDAY Do: This issue will contain a story that finally separates fact from fiction regarding the ancient legend of the Golden Flashlight. I figure if I keep doing covers they will slowly and incrementally, over time, develop into full stories, which will evolve into full printed books, which will be the seed of my multi-million dollar comic publishing company, (whose titles will eventually be made into movies.)

Ellis, please slap a sleeper hold on Marty until he promises to put up the next installment of Jimmy Bowles, and while you are at it I'd like to see the next cover of Zonzen. Skribbl, maybe a glimpse of a future issue of Skrib-bot, Destroyer of Humans, 4000 A.D. Rick, eagerly awaiting next Tux panel, and Scott, more of your inspirational comic drawings please. Tom Carrol, Dok, where are you? (Notice how I'm practicing being a comic company executive? I'll pay you all a page rate of $1,000...)

More Ellis LIES!

Although Jeff, Marty, Ellis and I did have a grand night out and we did see Ghost Rider, I will not stand by and idly let Ellis' slippery lips desecrate Jeff's and my good names!

Ghost Rider, to us, was the WORST movie of the year so far. Written and directed by the same 4th grader Mark Steven Johnson... or Steven Mark Johnson, whatever... it was campy corn crap. Either way, Ellis will NOT stain our true opinions! Our reputations are too valuable to the public at large to be besmirched in this manner. The movie was celluloid poo.

However, the evening out with the four of us was very enjoyable. Even with a Ranjo present.

On a different note, I myself as well as many others should be impressed with my alliterative skill above with the line "idly let Ellis' slippery lips".

Lastly, Marty, here's the picture of my friend's friend's Halloween night that captured a whole hell of a lot of ghostly ectoplasm in front of their house. And also a more exciting way to play tennis.

That is all.

Scott

Ghost Rider Evening

Went with Marty, Jeff and Scott to see Ghost rider last night. Scott and Jeff gave it raves. Marty and I may be too sophisticated for comic book movies. I enjoyed it as much as my refined sensibilities would allow. Maybe my past history as a splash page model influenced my enjoyment.

Mind Benders

Mind Benders,A movie with this strong image. I think it influenced a lot of sci fi art. Jeff Jones comes to mind. Goofey movie about isolation tanks and mind control. But this one really cool image.

Another Cool Site to Bookmark

Lines and Colors

As stated on the blog:

Lines and colors is a blog about drawing, sketching, painting, comics, cartoons, webcomics, illustration, digital art, concept art, gallery art, artist tools and techniques, motion graphics, animation, sci-fi and fantasy illustration, paleo art, storyboards, matte painting, 3d graphics and anything else I find visually interesting. If it has lines and/or colors, it's fair game.

Very inspirational if you want to kickstart your brain!

How'd It Go Scott?

Interviewwise.

Shown here, an Ed Roth Catalog I had back when I worked with Scott at Leland. Just sold within 15 minutes for 20 bucks on EBAY. Shouldn't have made it "buy it now" item. The other things are doodles by a guy that has a lot of Ed Roth in his sub conscious.

Skrbbl, Did you just take me off Admin?

I was trying to figure out what KrayonGorhamZilla broke as he threw everything on the floor and stomped it. All the sudden I don't seem to have admin ability. Probably just as well. Look what giving the power to Crayollazilla did.

Ultimate Origami

Check out this video showing three amazing creations by master origamist Satoshi Kamiya. Hard to believe, but each of the pieces shown in this video was folded from a single sheet of paper.

The red dragon, made from a 1.2 x 1.2 meter sheet, took only 6 hours to fold. The yellow hornet was commissioned by luxury retailer Hermes and was put on display in their New York store. The white dragon is fashioned from a 2 x 2 meter sheet of paper. “As far as I know, it is the most complex origami in the world,” says Kamiya in the video.

Check out Kamiya’s gallery for photos of his other paper creations.

Here's a drawing I did for my brother's birthday. He's a HUGE helium fan, as are a lot of us I think.

Anybody want to buy my 3ds Max 8? Fresh! Un-installed!

Howdy kids,

I'm looking to sell my full version of 3ds Max 8 - 3D animation program for Windows and I was wondering if anyone was interested. It was a gift from a friend and I was waiting to install it once I updated my computer. But I never did update so now it's just sitting there fresh and unused just waiting for you or any of your friends to install it and created some time-spoiling wonders.

It hasn't been loaded, nor has it been registered. This software from just last year is worth over $3000, but I'm looking for at the very least $1100. This is a FULL VERSION, not a student version. Let me know if you or anybody you know is interested. E-mail me at s_benefiel @hotmail.com or scottbenefiel@yahoo.com. Or just scream my name. I love you all... except Jeff.

Here's some specs and reviews...

Bring 3D film effects to the big screen. Generate realistic characters for a top-selling game. Create rich and complex design visualization. Autodesk® 3ds Max® 8 3D animation, rendering and modeling software lets game developers, design visualization professionals, and visual effects artists maximize their productivity and tackle challenging animation projects.

Contents:
3ds Max 8 disc, Tutorial Guide, New Features Guide, Autodesk Certified Animation Plug-ins brochure, Quick Reference Card.

Reviews:
Studio Monthly
According to reviewer Mike Caputo: "3ds Max 8 from Autodesk brings maturity and features to this potent and popular 3D application. Improvements to the cloth, hair and fur algorithms, the inclusion of Mental Ray 3.4, satellite rendering and other new and upgraded tools make this version a must-have upgrade or an enticing reason to buy into the application for the first time."
Computer Graphics World
“3ds Max 8 is the newest version of Autodesk Media & Entertainment’s 3D modeling and animation suite and is possibly one of the most significant releases from Autodesk in quite some time. The software takes a big step in the direction of character animation with the addition of hair, cloth, and a non-linear animation module."
Video Systems
“If you are a 3ds Max user, I can already hear you pulling out the plastic for the upgrade,” said Frank McMahon writer for Video Systems, “While there are some complex animation controls, and most of the new features should make hard-core animators giddy with anticipation, for the average media artist 3ds Max 8 is fairly easy to use and fun to work in. If you are looking for a serious 3D animation tool your shop can really grow into, 3ds Max is the one to go with. …if you want incredible 3D realism with some of the best render engines in the business, lots of different ways to animate, and a program packed with features, definitely investigate the new Autodesk 3ds Max 8.”

Star Whores

So I went to the Star Wars exibit at the California Science Center this past Sunday. It was cool to see all of the props and costumes from the movies, like the full-sized and and miniature model of Luke's landspeeder (Obi Wan has no legs!!!)

and the HUGE Millenium Falcon and x-wing. Geektopia for sure. I was shooting some digital pics when I remembered reading somewhere that when they built the Rebel Blockade Runner the modelers put a special surprise in the cockpit. So I bent down and snapped this shot and guess what I saw....

There's a joke here somewhere. Any suggestions?

And now for this commercial break...

It was a fun exhibit and I highly reccomend it. Just plan for long lines. The funny thing was that there were more adults than children! I had Comic Con flashbacks!!

SpaceBattles.com

So that's what it would look like...

This is what the ceiling of my bedroom looked like when I was in Junior High School. With a touch of Star Trek, U.F.O., Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and Buck Rogers mind you...
