My Little Side Art Project

The entire story that this is associated with still needs some polishing, but I thought this would give people and idea of what I've been working on. I shared it with the Comic Book group members yesterday and got some excellent feedback and suggestions. I hope to come back from vacation after next week and look at the thing with fresh eyes.

Mona, You're a brick

As I drew this I was making a most unmusical trilling, a whistle and yet not a whistle. Possessing a throaty, exotic quality, running up and down the musical scale, but without adhering to a definite tune.
I was inspired by some comments made on my Blog reacting to my bleached hair.

For all you guys that missed my Doc Savage joke, there's the image I thought was so iconic it would be instantly recognized. While looking for it, I discovered a series of pages featuring frame grabs form the Ron Ely movie. The entire movie, about a frame per minute I would estimate. Whew, lot of effort for a bad movie. The photos even enlarge when you click on them.

Not so haute...

So this isn't as splendid as real fine art kinda stuff, but the way this drawing scanned was still kind of interesting in an arty farty sort of way. This is a very old drawing that I recently stumbled across. I decided that I like it and that I would scan it, so here it is.

Curtain Call at Frenchies

Playing with shadows here and I probably got too heavy handed, as usual. Marty's elegant french fashion work was the inspiration to scan a sketch I made last week. But I guess I took a more minimalistic approach to haute couture.

We French, We Love Zee Fashions

A sketchbook tribute to Ms. Elsa Schiaparelli. Mr. Goodson's favorite designer, I believe. Mine fer sure. "Daughter named Gogo," it says (true story).

That's Mae West with the dog.

A hearty hello to all from this happy ex-pat, and a merci for the chance to post.

I promise not to abuse it.

Or have I already? Ooops.

A Couple of Bird Studies

I haven't been posting lately but I've been spending most of my spare time trying to finish a series of eight "words and pictures" drawings. I hope to be done with them by this weekend. Then I will have met Ellis's ten drawing criterion and we can at last hear his great idea! In the meantime, here's a couple of bird sketches.

Run Jelloid Run!

Did this yesterday!! Woowowoooo. This was an idea I had for my strip but it may not. Marker. Worked from back to front trying to get a foggy effect and it looks better small. Anyway, enjoy.

Early Tuesday Monster Mash

Paper and pen and nothin' else... on a whim I bought some Pilot Razor Point pens for sketching with. I remember using them when I was a kid and loving them, so I thought I would give them another go. This page is just a bunch of drawings of a snow monster that I'm trying to design for fun. I like the top and bottom left guys the best. I seem to be in a "gorilla proportions" rut right now...

What is it about my babyhood that invites derision?

Click on the mystery Icon to see the Flash animation Dave Adams (co worker, Monkeytropolis) did when he saw one of my freak baby pictures.

For The Gorilla Fans

Have you seen this? A guy here at work claims it's 4 years old. I hadn't seen it...

Evil Ellis Baby, "Mother...it's time to breast feed again."

Sorry, got too busy to post yesterday but I did draw this yesterday. Does that count?? I originally drew this then added the title. Sorry Ellis but I think adding the title adds another dimension to an otherwise bland drawing.

Missed a Page on The Brubaker Article

I didn't scan the whole ED article in Wizard. So I've added the first page here. i'm going to do my sketch when I get home tonight so i'm all set for my Tuesday Post. Jeff, my Mom didn't come up with that Flying Saucers Over Gravelly article. I cut and pasted some of her letters to give it the flavor of her writing and then did the first and last paragraph myself. I did it to get a horrified reaction out of her.

Swine Wars

Obi Ham Kenobi:"Your father wanted you to have this, it's called a "Link Saber".

Pork Stywalker:"You knew my father?"

Obi Ham Kenobi:"The operative word here is knew. "I cut his legs and arm off and served them for Easter dinner."

Also, Here's something you'll find amusing:

  • rrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnhhhh

  • Considering last weeks post I'm on a Star Wars kick I guess.

    Quickey Blobby post apocalypse thingey

I doodled till I had something

    TWO-FER TUESDAY!

The slightest invitational gesture was all Ollie
    needed to begin his interpretive
    "red apron dance."
And it doesn't need a tip... Sckribl inpired this one with all that robot stuff he does... and it feels good to do a Sci Fi kinda thing from time to time. Not much chance to do that at the office!

Trying to TAG Jam another way...

I was planning on adding to the TAG Jam but it seems like alot of steps to do one. (aka I'm lazy) Can we try this one where it doesn't involve anything else but clicking on a link?? Try this:

  • Artpad

  • This is an online painting program where you can draw something and then play it back and watch it draw! Kinda like the old animated shorts where a paintbrush washes across the screen and a drawing magically appears. Only cooler.

    Here's one I started:

  • Attak of the Conez!

  • The Jam would work like the last one. In the commments section, claim the right to draw, draw and then say that you are done and passing it on. Then the next person do the same thing. This will eliminate cross-drawing. If you want to start one yourself you have to click on the "save and send" button to the left, then click on "don't want to send to a friend but want a link click here" (it's in the middle of the dialog box). It will generate a link and you just copy and paste. Voila! Sound like fun? This would be done over time so no rush. This is all in my mind so there might be bugs. Anybody game?? You can tell me to go jump in a lake also.

This is primarily to help Krayonzilla to get off his duff and join the drawing madness!! :-P

OK. Here I added to Jeff's painting. Well It didn't work beacuse I lost track of my url. But I mailed it to myself at work. i'll add it tomorrow, Great Idea though. It's very fun.
