The Mokosos Scribbling Wall
A guy here at High Moon decided to start up a sketch club called the Mokosos Scribbling Wall on Blogger (Mokosos is 'snot-nosed' in Spanish) where one person comes up with a topic each week and you have until the following Monday to post your sketch or painting or whatever. The results so far have been highly entertaining. Since alphabetically Benefiel came first I got to choose the inaugural topic, so I chose 'Woman/girl crying while eating'. The following weeks' was 'Gargantuan proportions'. Above you can see my entries. Again, Ellis, I hope you don't mind that I used you as inspiration on the second one.
This weeks' topic: 'Dangerous flight'.

Cloverfield Monster shown at film's End
Hey guys, The title is a link to youtube footage of the Cloverfield monster. For those of you with no interest in the story or the desire to see a giant monster movie. It's a bad, dark shot from a handheld camcorder slipped into a theatre. I can confirm it's the real deal having seen it. I didn't embed it because I don't want to be tossing spoilers around.
My review is , I liked.
It reminded me of the MIST but I liked Cloverfield better.
By the way, my youtube concept art hoax is all the way to almost 2000 hits. It's getting more now that the movie has hit. And I'm getting stabbed and hacked in the comments. Kinda fun.
I found these cards while looking for an old business card of my own. Tag membership, my first Comicon badge,
Cloverfield Gag is over 6000. Closing in on 7000

Blurb and Lulu
Blurb
Lines and Colors
The article and some of the comments said that Lulu is cheaper and better for black and white while Blurb was better for color and is a bit more expensive. You can also dowload a layout program for mac or PC. From the examples it looks like a nice program.
I think I'll try this and see.

Not Cloverfield....
Here's my first drawing of the new year. I did it for my kids school science night flyer that MC is heading up. I was thinking of doing a little book ala Edward Gorey in this style. Not sure what the story will be but...maybe about a giant fly that moves into town and eats and contaminates everything. (just off the top of my head)

Ellis are you in?
Too bad Scott is in San Diego. He could have joined us....somebody's got to put on the Jar Jar costume.
SLUSHO
I'm not done yet. More color and contrast and some captioning
I'll try and slip in a little color work on this tomorrow after work. At work I have a better wacom tablet.
On the CON table front. Got a note from the Con people informing me about special Hotel deals for Table holders. But, the note said no definite decision had been made about who had been given tables. At least I know my check and paperwork are in their hands. Keep your fingers crossed.
I need to work on balancing up some elements. Making the crab component more mutated. Get some shape variety in tentacles. I'll try to get a cool painting in a couple of days. Jellyfish says Cuthullu to me so I went in this direction.
Actually, no, it's not.... that's me making a horrible visual pun. Here's my entry... no color yet, though:

Cloverfield Monster DEBUNKED
From AICN
Well... ok, let's check on these. The alleged CLOVERFIELD monster comes from MovieWeb - That is not an early design - nor is it - the final design. It is, according to my sources (and my sources do kick ass) - "BUNK"
SO I looked up "BUNK" and found that it is a built in platform bed... or a trough for feeding cattle... or sleeping quarters... or...... HUMBUG, NONSENSE! So... I guess you can sleep on that image, feed it to your cattle... or just know that it's total bullshit.
A FEW WEEKS WILL TELL.

Is this the Cloverfield Monster?
If so, it's interesting but not very iconic. Moby Crab. From what I gather this might have been one of the early concepts. Who knows. Expect to have the Sub Mariner riding atop.

SCUD?
I've embedded that one. I've made the title a link back to the whole site.
I found it interesting but mainly the cold mackeral slap across the face is, that if a guy wants to be doing comic books, he'll probably have to find a way to be doing it full time. Doug and Rob have been able to do it because they stepped off, found a way to make money that didn't require full time jobs, and can settle into a ritual that entails a ten hour day to do a finished , single page.
Explore the page and look at VLOG 4. On that one he talks with Doug about their differing but similar approaches.
I guess this is just about to hit the stands. I'll have to check it out.
