I Love Jim Gorham!

Tuesday Drawing!! Oh why not stir the pot? He doesn't come here anyway.

Grey marker first, then Expresso medium marker, then twist up crayon and white out for hightlights. Oh, then Dirty Dancing.

  2. For us newer members, what's the story on Jim Gorham?

  3. Goodness... where to begin!?

I think Mr. Goodson should take the lead on this one...

  4. Jim Gorham was found wandering among the Dunes of Alamagordo New Mexico, dressed in tattered Grey Overalls, suffering from burns over 90 percent of his body. Though recovered, he still complains.

  5. Say, isn't that "tree" on the right side of the picture actually Big Bird's leg?

Is this drawing a take-off on Jim Gorham's drawaing style or something? I notice he's listed as "Krayonzilla" and this looks a bit like a child's crayon drawing. Great drawing in any case.

  6. Had the same Big Bird recognition! VERY fun drawing Skribbl.

My favorite is the first creature with three legs and that marvelous eyeball. Reminds me of the Tom Waits song "The Eyeball Kid".

I'm... waiting.. for Tom to tour again.

    Sorry.

  7. Ha! You guys picked up on the Big Bird leg! Too smart!

As far as Jim goes, Ellis had said all that needs to be said. But I'm not paroding his style. Just a drawing injected with much love and affection.

  9. "Ass, both of you"

Ha! That's being polite for Jim. I surprised he didn't say "ALL of you"

But really, I meant no offense. Just Love! (note the capital 'L') :-D

  11. Tom, Jim's a great guy. He was one of Rick Johnson's best friends and kept him motivated and socializing all the way until he died. He's just fun to poke and jab at. He's got a HUGE model collection, lots of rarities and he loaned me one of his most beloved models to let me make a riskey half assed resin kit of.

  12. Ah, I think I do remember his name being mentioned in connection with Rick Johnson. I think either Rick S. or Patrick Ho was talking about him when we went to visit Rick J. at his home that one time.

  13. Yes Jim a gem. Full-on comic/fantasy/sci-fi/kaiju/toy/monster/ nerd. Just like the rest of us. I was hoping my post would prompt him to post a reply or SOMETHING. He needs to join the fun.

BTW do you guys want to invite Patrick Ho in the mix? I met him at Rick J's funeral and he seemed cool.

  14. Patrick's a great guy! I will ask him.

  15. Yes, Skribl could you please invite Patrick? Now I've forgotten what he has to do after being invited. Will he just be able to post automatically after that? Don't know if you need this but Patrick's e-mail is pho@soe.sony.com.
