Trailer

Couldn't get the screen proportions to my liking (even w/ 3 choices). But it's comforting to know the constructs I was hoping for are in the movie.

edit: Hey dok, added the embedded player for ya! skrib

  2. Oh! Man. That looks cheap!!! just a lame way to put in a Sentinel. and it looks like a transformer reject to boot. They think they are making an improvement. I think NOT.

  3. Wolverine killed Voltron! That was messed up.

  4. Well, er, uh... gee,
I thought it was kind of cool.

  5. I'm always leary of anything that is made viewable prior to the film opening ... As with games, some of the best stuff is finished at the 11th hour, or the stuff we're seeing is out of a cut that wasn't authorized (as with the Hulk movie ...).

And I hope so, because there were some parts of it that just didn't hold up to me ...

    For instance:

I want to see at least a shadowy robotic suggestion of the Sentinel, instead of the hovering eyelights...

I thought that the grabbing and throwing of Wolvering, the "Fastball Special," seemed just a little contrived or spur of the moment.

I didn't like just hearing the rending of gears and metal ...

And, I thought that Wolverine's sauntering out from behind the Sentinel's head was just too, well, casual. Considering how far he must have fallen / jumped, he would at least have to heal himself from some spinal compression.

Oh, well, I'll likely still be in line the day X3 premieres.

  6. No, No, No. This scene alone proves they had no budget.

  7. This is a Danger Room sequence. And it's not that good. Plus the fact that they had all the reference to a Sentinel. (The LATE, GREAT Jack Kirby's design). Now a sequence with one of those. Fully shown! That would be kick ass. Not this.

  8. Well if this a Danger Room sequence then that would explain Wolverine's casualness. So Dok do you know what this was for? Maybe it's pre special effects reel. I agree the floating spotlights are a little cheesy for a big budget movie like this. My guess is that it will all be replaced with the cool designs.

  9. Bah, It's not a danger room event. And it's perfect just the way it is. Except for the casting.

  10. Err uh well... gee, I like the casting.

  11. Krayonzilla just called me and convinced me it is a danger room moment. Tom has conviced me the xast is good. But Jim has convinced me the director is crap

  12. Can I convince you to go see it anyway??? Or maybe I can convince you to just stay home and save your $10.00???

  13. Yes, I also assumed this was a danger room sequence. Wolverine comments, "They're not ready yet Storm," indicating that these are all trainees and Logan thinks that the exercise is too advanced for them at this point.

Using the two hovering spotlights to indicate the Sentinel is just standard Hollywood technique to build suspense about what the Sentinel looks like, since this is probably early in the film. They just don't want to give it all away at once, especially if this is an official teaser. It's trying to tease. The same goes for not showing the actual cutting off of the robot's head. I think that the implied violence is a good way of giving the audience just a taste. It needs to be judged in the context of where it is dramatically in the whole film.

  14. I'll go see it. I went to see Fantastic Four. It has to be better than that. If you want to see a fun super heroe movie try and track down The Specials. It's written by the James Gunn who directed the recent SLITHER which I liked.

  15. I totally get where you all are going on this ... it's okay to be sketchy because it is early on in the picture, or it's okay to be sketchy because it is an early version of the scene and the better CG has yet to be added, or it's okay to be sketchy because it's really going to be a crappola film (and the last in the series because everyone (even Halle Berry) is tired of wheeling the professor around in his cool wheelchair ...

I'll still see it when it debuts. It has to be better than Daredevel, Elektra, FF (both versions), and Eric Bana as Bruce/Hulk ...

I'm going to post from Daily Variety an article about all the new stuff coming down the pipeline from Avi Arad and his whacky bunch at Marvel (now that they have their own line of credit to play with ...).

    Talk about a potential clogger...

  16. Avi Arad and his whacky bunch at Marvel are more like a blood clot.
Don't get me started on the Marvel sells toy license to Hasbro. I'll go on for weeks with that.

  17. Maybe you can start a post on the state of toys today Kray-Z???

  18. I was prety happy with the first 2 X films, so I will give this one a chance. I'm not very invested in the XMen, so it's no big deal to me if it's crappy.

This scene is just fine. The casting of Logan is fine, too, but whatshername was pretty wooden in the first 2 films, and she doens't look much more lively in this one if this scene is any gauge.

  19. This was shown on Leno and then ended up on You Tube - all I know.
