I got some Bud Sagendorf "Popeye" comics, some Marge's "Tubby" comics, a bunch of "Adventures of The Fly" comics, a Gumby comic by Bob Burden and Rick Geary, two Mark Schulz books of drawing, the Dok Whitson sketchbook, a Moebius book, and a Howard Pyle book of drawings and paintings, from which I take my inspirational quote of the day: "Throw your heart into the picture and then jump in after it."
Too bad Gene Autry is dead. He could make a nice ballad out of LISTEN TO THE SONG OF THE WHISTLING WORM,...Ahhh Whistl'n Wurm, Whisl'n Wurm. Beautiful fantasy illo. Blow it up to 9 by 10 foot and do it in oil and you could sell it for 100k.
ReplyDeleteI got the Monster Art of Basil Gogos (signed), The Art of Ray Harryhausen (signed). Some candy toy figures of Ultraman and Godzilla, and several 11x17 movie poster reproductions of Planet of the Apes, Beneath the POTA, Escape from the POTA, Conquest of the POTA, Soylent Green, Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Godzilla vs Megalon and 1 Marvel Legends figure I was missing. Very light spending for me this year at the Con. I usually drop a bundle too. This was light for me.
ReplyDeleteTOMMOON!
ReplyDeleteDammit, that "Cosmic Postcard #001" is fantastic! Your work on this "series," or book, or whatever it is, gets better and better with each entry. AND THEY'RE ALL GREAT. Way to go.
I love the shapes used to create the silhouette of the guy's head, and the man-made lettering in the caption at bottom would be impossible to do any more perfectly.
Very very inspiring!
Mark Schultz & Dok Whitson skechbooks, Walt Simonson Masters book (awesome), a selection of Rick Geary stuff, the Ray H. book (signed, of course), an Oz lunch box from Eric and a little Gorasaurus toy... I'm sure I'm forgeting something.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Skibbl, I will be sending you Eric's email address so you can invite him to post on this site.
