TAG Dinner

So I thought it was going to be Saturday and Skib thinks it's going to be Thursday. What day did you think it was? What day should it be? For the record, Friday or Saturday are best for me. Let's nail this down!

  1. Any day is o.k. with me. Skribl, what day can you get away from work? You had some project showing or review to go to I remember? We want you there, so I'm willing to work around what's convenient for you.

  2. Update... Friday is best for me.

  3. Update #2: I spoke with Jeff on the phone and he and I both like the idea of a Friday lunch instead of a dinner, but I suppose that depends on what works for everyone else. Also, we would need a local to find a suitable restaurant within walking distance of the Con.

  4. Friday lunch is fine with me too. How about having is slightly later in the afternoon, say 1:00 or 2:00, so that we don't all just get to the Con and then have to leave right away? Also the restaurants might be less crowded if we do it later.

  5. Yes Friday. It is done.

I originally had a screening scheduled for Thursday but that has been pushed back for August. Yeah! I will be at the Con Thursday through Saturday.

  6. I talked to Scotty Buncake and Friday is good for him too.

  7. Friday lunch is fine, though I must say I'm disappointed we won't be able to hang out late into the night.

Or is this a long lunch?

  8. I know that alot of people's time at the Con is limited so I don't know if a long lunch is doable. I would suggest maybe we could continue the festivities into a second round and add dinner and continue? Just throwing it out there.

  9. Friday Lunch is fine w/ me - that's still at Flippi's on India Street across from the Blick Art Store, yesh?

Friday dinner would be just fine with me too!

  10. Hey it's me! Scott Benefiel (or Scotty Buncake). I'm at Sony Pictures Animation having lunch with Jeff "Hold My Creamy Biscuits" Ranjo. I just wanted to say I hate you all and that I'll see you at the TAG lunch. Don't seat me near Ellis.

  11. Flippi's at lunch is bad if we just show up! Keep in mind that lots of businesses in and around the area eat there for lunch as well. So advanced reservations may need to be in order in advance. I'll take care of it if need be, seeing how I work nearby. I'll need a headcount before I call.
    lmk! Don't be a slacker.

  12. Flippi's recommends reservations for large groups. They open at 11am. So I need a headcount ASAP.
So check with everybody who wants to attend

    Thanks

  13. Rick was suggesting finding a restaurant within walking distance of the Con. Are we doing that or keeping it at Filippi's? What time have we settled on? Skribbl? What's your executive decision on these matters?

Is it easy to get to Filippi's from the Con? Do we take the trolley?

  14. How about "Rock Bottom?" Dececnt food. Close to Horton Plaza. Ellis adjacent.

  15. That sounds good... Keep us posted about dinner plans as all of our schedules seem to be in flux and one meal is never enough to catch up with everyone.

The Con is a secondary thing for me... I'm much more interested in visiting with people.

Except Scott. Don't make me eat with Scott.

Scott and Ellis. I don't want to eat with either of them.

    Or Jeff.

    Or Tom.

Oh, with the f__k, I'll eat with anyone that can tolerate my company! I'm desperate!

  16. "F__k" is the strongest oath I've ever heard Rick take other than when he's playing Virtua Fighter.

Incidentally Rick, heh heh, I have a copy of Virtua Fighter for the Playstation 2 at my house, AND my old copy of Bushido Blade 1. Prepare to be up until past midnight every night.

  17. Flippi's is good. All you lazy butts can take the trolly. It ain't gonna kill ya.

  18. But it might take more time...

Tom: Bring it on! Prepare to beat the tar out of me! Uh, wait a minute...

Tommy is the one who's going to want to play... he's hard-wired to want to play video games!

  19. i'm in the middle of a great conversation with jim gorham. first he is whining about any attempt to change from fillipi's. so i tell him to make a reservation for 14, details or cancellaton to follow. his reaction, fillipi's is not equipped for us. Changing in the space of 5 minutes from a rabid advocate of fillipi's to a dubious detractor. I'm ordering Pizza and we can eat it in the park next to the bay, behind the convention center. What do you say? Friday about 12:30. Who wants to deal with a bunch of bad service and messed up orders.

  20. Sure...that sounds fine... how are you going about "ordering" pizza down there? Do you mean you are going to pick some up at the convention center consessions and take it to the Park?

I think this is the best idea yet! No waiting to be seated, unlimited seating, etc. People could even brown bag it if they wanted to.

  21. I'm in for the pizza deal. Lots of room, and no Klingon ambushes to worry about. Ellis, what can we do to make this happen???

  22. City Pizzeria down on 6th near Broadway delivers.

Authentic, thin-crust New York-style pizza is hard to come by in San Diego, but these guys make do it, and do it well.
    They got cheesesteaks too.

What do you think? I can get hold of them to get the menu. We've used them here at work quite a bit.

  23. I pass the pizza ordering baton to you, oh Krayonzilla.

Everyone post your pref on pizza. Krayonzilla has paypal. He can have pockets full of cash before he even makes the order. He works Downtown. I vote for...Half Veggy, half Hawaiian. That would make a good character design. A surfing Carrot.

Krayonzilla, inform the restaurant what the order is likely to entail and get the tentative priice and we can have the cash in your hands by next week.
