'Evil Dead' meets 'Kill Bill' meets 'Dead Alive.' Ellis is right. I believe 'Machine Girl' was adapted from the first draft of the 'Yojimbo' script. Kurosawa decided to go a different direction because he couldn't get Toshiro Mifune to play Machine Girl (didn't want to wear the Sailor Moon dress).
