FYI ... While it isn't a contract (yet), I have been contacted back by three publishers for "Batter! Broil!! Baste!!! The Comic Creators Cookbook," but I'm getting ahead of myself. After putting in more changes two nights ago, I spent last night from 12-3am sending out emails to publishers and companies that I found on a Web site list ... This morning there was an editor from Scribner (a division of Simon and Schuster) who wants me to send an official proposal, then came in an email from an editor at Conde Nast who said, "Please send me a manuscript, or whatever you have at this point. Many thanks," ... and then I got a phone call from another editor who said he rarely calls back from email submissions but made an exception for B! B!! B!!! His company published the book "Taking Woodstock" which recently became a movie by Ang Lee ...
More will happen, for sure. It's only 12 hours since the emails went out.
This is getting fun.
I'm sure my breakfast burrito has a very small role in all this but i'm still excited by your success. Good work, job well done.
ReplyDeleteYes, great news, excellent job. Very exciting.
ReplyDeleteCoooooooooooool! Make sure you add my recipe page of a TRUE comic book artist:
ReplyDelete1. Remove ramen from packaging.
2. Place in boiling water for 10 minutes.
3. Add vaguely flavorful seasoning contents to bowl.
4. Stir.
5. Eat and cry alone in your one bedroom apartment.
Scott, that is the saddest thing I have ever heard in my life. Clearly we are all going to have to give you some helpful pointers on how to meet women.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's too late to add Buncake's recipe (and REVEALING photo) to my introduction ... just where it belongs ... right up front.
ReplyDeleteThat's the way he'll meet women ... being in my cookbook.
And if this manuscript is a big hit, you might want to follow it up with the "Joystick of Cooking - The Video Game Creator's Cookbook"!
ReplyDeleteAnthony Edwards can portray me in the film version of BBB.
ReplyDeleteBuncake's apartment is always packed with girls. At least three. In french maid outfits usually.
