Looks pretty cool! The level of detail on this one far outclasses any of the games previous. Very cinematic. Gorgeous lighting and geographic realism. I think I want this one.
Wow, that looks great. Very Sergio Leone. I saw one long dead character actor in the one corpulent guy on the porch. He was in a lot of the Alfred Hitchcock presents. Or am I imaging that you guys used some character ref from the past?
I am pretty sure that they did not use any character actors overtly as reference ... The art process on characters turned out to be VERY iterative ... finish a pass, review, make changes, review, make changes ... take a break to review other stuff, then go back to review and make changes. But sometimes people resemble people regardless of the process (and that's why people are constantly coming up to me to say, "I knew / know a guy who looks just like you ..." The game looks and plays very nice, and it's not finished (yet).
I'm not a video game player, but I can certainly appreciate what's involved in creating them. This one looks exceptionally good. Kudos to everyone on the creative team! Oh, and Tom: I think the Marston character looks like Doug TenNapel.
Beautiful look to the game. I'm a big fan of the new, gritty western genre a la "Unforgiven". But wouldn't it be funny to have a throwback hero like Roy Rogers or Gene Autry plopped down into the middle of it all; singing ballads and never killing anyone, just shooting the guns out of villains' hands? Great idea, great idea.

Pretty nifty, Tom! This is pretty amazing... no wonder you've been working so hard!

ReplyDeleteOr James West in his little skin tight outfit with a switch blade coming out of one boot and explosives hidden in the heel of the other.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, great idea! And surely there's room somewhere in the game for the Cartwright clan.
ReplyDeleteTom, that Roy Rogers game is a great pitch. They shoot to kill, you shoot to disarm. Some very frantic gameplay in that mechanic
ReplyDeleteAnd you can alternate that game play with some Guitar Hero action with some cowboy ballads!
