So this isn't as splendid as real fine art kinda stuff, but the way this drawing scanned was still kind of interesting in an arty farty sort of way. This is a very old drawing that I recently stumbled across. I decided that I like it and that I would scan it, so here it is.
I've seen this drawing. When we were having the TAG get together at your apartment in San Diego. I think. It may be one of those false memories. It's like a cross between Plimpton and Escher. But I guess you know that. I like the strong socketing of the eyes.
ReplyDeleteI sense your model was Sue. Yes? No? Cool nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't use Sue as a model.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it's the eyes that make this one. We didn't meet at my place many times... that's a pretty good memory you got yerself there, Mr. G!
That's a really fun drawing Rick! Who is Plimpton? I thought more of Escher crossed with Duchamp.
ReplyDeleteThis is really fun and strange Rick. Nice job! Jeez, glad you kept it!
ReplyDeleteI think you've seen Plimpton cartoons Tom, did some animations and advertising. Great metamorphing people and things.

I am eating a crepe right now. She's eyeing me like she wants some.
ReplyDeleteI like the post-industrial implications of this one.
I went to the Plympton web site and watched "Guard Dog". What a great style! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that keeps grabbing me about this piece is the thrust of her head into the right side of the page. The other things that people mentioned worked for me too, but that dynamic pose for a bust shot is also worth noting.
