Hey, Scotty, you may feel no shame in touching Mr. Kirby's ass, but you better start feeling shame in your misuse of apostrophes ... if you're going to be a self-publisher, that is.
Go get Scotty, Beata!! Stand up for the apostrophe!!
If anyone has an anecdote about Jack Kirby, in general or from the visit (that's submitted a recipe to the cookbook, that is ...) send it over to me. I'm compiling a tribute page to the the King, all the better if the story involves food/eating related activities ... heh heh. Gene Colan sent me a charming remembrance that I will share at some point. Joe Simon may join in. And Mike Baron pointed me to The Dude (who evidently hung out w/Jack a lot). So, basically Rick, Ellis, Deane, and Beata (and Ben Herrera, but he doesn't check in to TAG much) ... oh! ... I've got to post Armando Durruthy's ramen recipe today for Buncake's edification ...
So tell me. Why wasn't I at this gathering? Did all of you guys decide "Hey let's all go visit Jack Kirby, but don't tell David D he might try to steal some of Kirby's artwork and try to sell iot at the comicshop". Hey Jim, do you have any pics of our visit to the Ackermansion, or did you already post them eons ago?
How's it going guys and gals. Jim tracked me down and gave me a link to get back on this blog. Something happened awhile ago and I couldn't get back onto the blog, which is why I have been away. By the way Jeff, I am on Facebook. Perhaps you couldn't remember how to spell my last name. Try doing a search under David Descoteau.
I was really bugged by not having this shot. Knowing it existed but not having it,. Now the world has it. Dig it.
ReplyDeleteWOW ... you guys all look so young!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Jim.
Aw!!
ReplyDeleteI like how Doc is noticing how uncomfortably close Scott is standing behind Mr. Kirby.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the few artist's in history to have his hand comfortably on Jack "King" Kirby's ass and not have him shake it off.

ReplyDeleteAn obvious temporary abberation. As you can see later in the sentence it is used properly and with succinct verve.
