"Buddy..."

  1. some pal of Crumb. I think he signs it and IDs himself in the strip.

I was looking it up because of some comment on a web page about a Crumb strip about "J-words." I assume the guy was talking about Jews. I tried several searches and never got a satisfactory Crumb strip about Jews.
I wondered what this take was? He's Gentile married to a Jew. He did an Bible, Genesis take.

TAG has a Gould connection. Shel was Gould's big re-packager for Pacific comics and of course there is no TAG without Shel.

  2. I guess his name is Ed Piskor. Never heard of him

  3. Looking at his biography on Wikipedia tells me that "Ed Piskor" was best known for collaberating with Harvey Pekar of American Splendor fame. But it also says that he was born in 1982, and the incident in the strip takes place in 1968. Piskor must just be the artist as he's too young to have written it.

  4. Ah, further research points to Jay Lynch as the likely author. Born in 1945 and part of the underground comix movement. Also wrote for Mad.
