Got laid off at Heavy-Iron today. Finished SpongeBob and that budget constriction of no more Nick money caused another belt tightening. Me and 7 others.
I'm sure I'll find something but it might not be in games. I'm a little long in the tooth for a new hire in games.
I'm thinking about a concept from Chris Hardwicke. Multi Freelanceing, looking for client like recurrence.
Got enough dough to think about the situation for a few weeks.
Ellis, if your moving down here is at all within the realm of possibility, I'll keep an eye out for you at SOE and alert Mister Shoopack. And quit thinking of yourself as too old!
ReplyDeleteIf Ellis is too old, what does that make ME??? Ouch ...
ReplyDeletewhat???
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of this, Ellis. You're too good to not land a new gig sometime soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks folks. I've reacted to emails and facebook. I've neglected to react to my own post.
ReplyDeleteSunday will be resume day. I've got a lead for an Austin job. I'll poke them with a query and a resume.
If I move logistics will be complicated of course. Have to get rid of the Culver City shack. Try to do it quick without too much of a beating.
Keep us posted, Ellis. Speaking as someone who has done a lot of interviews, experience and owning an easy-going attitude is worth a LOT.
ReplyDeleteCome work in Burbank -lots o' crap over here!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood idea. Go work with Kali. Good luck with the Austin job, but don't leave us if you can help it Ellis.
ReplyDeleteOh, and speaking of Kali - Kali, I visited your "Old Men with Kazoos..." blog. If you are reading this, I wanted to say that you are a remarkable talent. Post more of your stuff here.
ReplyDeleteWow thanks Tom!
ReplyDeleteI will!
