It's 5:20 am. I couldn't go back to sleep until I had confessed all. I bought mostly used children's books from the "Bud Plant - Hutchison Used Books" booth. Some from "Stuart Ng Fine Art Books", and from the small press, alternative and independent booths. Nothing mainstream this year. I think I kept it under $200. Not bad. Special love for the children's book art of my childhood, the Eisenhower years; soft, comforting, safe style.Confess... confess... confess.

ReplyDeleteOh ... reaction to the Comic Book Creators Cookbook was overwhelmingly positive. I collected 166 names and emails to package with my pitches to publishers this week and next.
ReplyDeleteJust noticed the airtight garage book. It blended with the children's books. How's that?
ReplyDeleteThe Airtight Garage book contains some of his best graphics; very detailed, black and white, fine ink-line stuff. Along the same lines as his "40 days dans le desert B", if you know that book. It's in French which makes it hard to understand, but knowing Moebius, maybe it's just as well. Could easily be that's there isn't anything to understand. Just have to enjoy the graphics as a sort of '60's psychedelic drug trip.
ReplyDeleteGee, what did I buy from the ECCC? Some little buttons and things for the kids. I wanted to get the Mignola poster (Hellboy holding a cup of coffee with the Freemont Troll behind him) but they were sold out by the time I found the booth. I picked up a couple of sketchbooks and things like that.
