At least with this movie they don't have to worry about working The Avengers into it. Character designs look very cool. Inevitable comparisons to "looking like a video game." I did like the nicely thought through, psychically pushed, saying of a reverential lamp oath.
This looks like an animated movie... Nothing wrong with that, but it looks a bit odd beside the live action. I kinda wish they would have bit the bullet and made the whole thing animated.
Otherwise, I have them credit for trying to take on the whole Latern Corps... the typical Hollywood route would have been inclined to keep it Earthbound... And boring.
Although the casting of Ryan Reynolds gave me some initial pause..

comedic actor, I'm seeing him making it work now.
The scope and the strong outer space, sci-fi elements have worked for me from the start.

ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since the first Star Wars. But the Lanterns are really just Jedi Knights. The ring gives them The Force.
