Description SOE Austin is seeking an exceptional Senior Concept Artist to join our team. We’re looking for someone with the right blend of talent, experience, and enthusiasm who can help broaden the studio’s current online titles and become a driving force in the development of new visual styles for our upcoming projects. This position requires powerful illustration, conceptualization and communication skills, an interest in building brand new ip’s, and a fundamental love of video games.
Essential Duties: • Assists in establishing style for production art • Maintain consistent style under the direction of the Art Director • Create production designs for assets • Work with production leads to create concept art relevant for project • Assist in the creation of models, shaders and textures • Actively participate in technical and artistic problem solving • Be able to identify inefficiencies in the concept-to-production process and help formulate resolutions • Produce a wide range of highly creative character, creature and environment concept art • Seek feedback from the Art Director in style and mood. • Communicate with co-workers, including designers, programmers, and other game artists. • Follow the schedules set by the Department Lead. • Must demonstrate a diversified portfolio
Required Skills: • Excellent drawing and conceptualization skills with an ability to adapt to established styles. • Understanding of fundamental illustration skills including composition, perspective and color theory. • Understanding of surface texture, anatomy, and architecture. • Digital illustration skills with an advanced understanding of Photoshop • Understanding of form, composition, and use of detail. • Solid interpersonal and communications skills and an ability to verbalize abstract ideas • Self-managing- organized with good time management. Must be able to identify and meet goals.
Desired Skills: • Understanding of Maya modeling and texture tool sets • Experience with the Unreal Engine • Minimum 1-3 years of game industry experience • Bachelors Degree in Art/Animation a plus
